Park and National Palace of Pena

Visit Pena National Palace on the top of Sintra's Mountain, one of the most impressive expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in architecture in the world and one of Portugal’s seven wonders, and the amazing gardens full of rare fauna and unique trees from the four corners of the world. You will find a Palace not just with a single style but a mix of Romantic, Renaissance, Manueline and Moorish styles. A variety of trails that lead you right to the top where you can enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the peaceful forests and gardens covered by exotic plants and flowers, the western coastline and the city of Lisbon below.

The Pena Palace was designated a National Monument in 1910 and its part of the Cultural Landscape of Sintra, which has been classified by UNESCO as World Heritage since 1995.

Admire Sintra Village Historical Center where you’ll have free time to explore the town, to see Sintra National Palace from the outside, the charming traditional shops, restaurants and historic cafes but above all the landscape that has inspired so many artists, writers and kings.

Don't forget to taste the traditional "Travesseiros de Sintra" and "Queijadas de Sintra", two of the most delicious local pastries.

Take a walk along the medieval streets of Sintra one of the most known and romantic Portuguese villages. Due to its palaces, woods and the fogy mountains, Sintra has become a magical place.

Cabo da Roca

After lunch, we will drive through one of the most beautiful roads of Sintra straight to Roca Cape, the westernmost point of Continental Europe, where you'll be amazed by the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean crashing against the high rocky cliffs, an absolute paradise for photography lovers.

Guincho Beach

On the way to Cascais we will pass by a beautiful beach, part of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, Guincho Beach is popular for its strong winds and high swells that are the delight of a great following among bodyboarders and surfers. Throughout summer, there is generally a good northerly wind ensuring Guincho is excellent for windsurfing. Part of the Guincho beach great beauty is its natural white sand dunes that contrasts with the Serra de Sintra hills.

Cascais

Once a small pour fishermen village, this town in the 19th century was one of the favorite retreats for the royal family, and became a favorite summer destination of the European aristocracy and noble families for its incredible location and a pleasant climate.

Known as the French Riviera, this elegant seaside resort town is now the favorite destination of the national and international jet set.

Stroll along the charming city center and enjoy the lovely Cascais bay.

Excellent day. Our tour guide was prompt, knowledgeable and an amazing driver! She did a
Splendid job navigating traffic while filling our heads with an abundance of information on everything around us ( in 3 languages no less!)
She assisted us in beating the crowds and maneuvering through the huge line ups with minimal waiting time for entrance to the castle. We made adequate stops for refreshments and bathroom visits. She also ensured everyone was comfortable and hydrated during the day. A wonderful tour. If I had to give one criticism: it would have been nice to have her navigate throughout the palace with us. ( other tour groups had a guide and it seemed like a great bonus.

Fabulous visit for first-timers to Portugal

This is a wonderful 7-8 hour tour of some of the best sights in and around Lisbon. Maria does a wonderful job of scheduling the trip correctly, down to precise pick-up times at the various sites, and the proper advance ticket purchases (at a discount!) which make for an early arrival at the Palace Sintra ahead of the crowds of tourists that follow. There is a nice blend of van time, tour time, and individual shopping/dining time. And the van time highlights some of the best ocean views you will ever see! Maria is a great story-teller on the romantic history of Portugal!! Including some interesting facts on how TEA gets its name, and where the tradition of drinking tea in the evening comes from!! My spouse and I really enjoyed this tour and strongly recommend it for newcomers to Portugal looking to get quick insight into Lisbon and Cascais.
