We will arrive at Pico Do Arieiro just before the sunrise so that you appreciate this unforgettable landscape at the beginning of your hike.

It is popular for being the path in Madeira with the most breathtaking views because of the weather diversity along the hike. You will feel that you walk “above the clouds” and on the challenging path you will find a few tunnel-walks and the famous “stairs to heaven”.

Pico Ruivo

Pico Ruivo, with 1862 meters of altitude is the highest mountain in Madeira Island, it is also the third highest mountain in all Portugal. To access the peak you must arrive walking. The absolute best way is from Pico do Arieiro (the 3rd highest mountain on the island with 1810 meters of altitude).

From Pico Do Arieiro To Pico Ruivo To Achada Do Teixeira (11 km = 4:30 hours in total). Level: Medium-Hard.

Amazing sunrise hike, wonderful service

We had an amazing time, the sunrise is beautiful. It is also doable if your are not a very experienced hiker, because the paths are well maintained. The only thing to keep in mind is that there are a lot of very steep stairs which can be tough. The transport to Pico do Areiro and the pick up from Achada do Teixeira were amazing. The bus is comfortable and Luis tells you a few stories and gives you plenty of information about the trail. He also gave us some recommendations and showed us some highlights of Madeira on the way back. We definitely recommend everyone to book the sunrise hike with pico transfers!!

Absolutely a must do when you are in Madeira! Truly one of the best experiences ever. Our hike got resceduled because of bad weather, Elisabeth let us know a few days in advance and gave us enough options to do the hike on another day. The communication about the pick up time en the hike was clear and on the drive back we stopped at the traditional houses in Santana. Our driver, Diogo, drove responsible on the wet roads and talked to us about the surroundings. The sunrise was absolutely stunning and the hike was my favorite one so far. Amazing views and well maintained paths.

We wanted to go for a sunrise hike from pico do arieiro to pico ruivo and luckily there was some free space on our preferred day. The transfer was on time and our driver was so friendly, he started a conversation with the whole group so we got to know each other a bit. We also got a card for the hike and some useful tipps and information.
Unfortunately, the weather was so foggy and cloudy that we couldnt see the sunrise, but it was an amazing experience. Also the pick up on pico ruivo worked perfectly. We are really happy that we booked the transfer and didnt have to walk the whole way back (one way is hard enough
