Our guide was amazing - very knowledgeable. The food was fantastic too. We enjoyed meeting our group members too and had so much fun with them that we all got drinks afterwards.

My friend and I did this food tour on our third and final night in Porto. We had actually already done another food tour which I had booked thinking that this one wasn’t available on Wednesdays. However, Eating Europe was kind enough to open up a tour for us, and it wound up being a private tour, which I always love. Our guide, Beatriz was an absolute delight and by the end of the night, she felt like a friend. It was interesting hearing about working in the travel industry over the past couple of years and even about her family and cake baking skills! Knowing that she is from Coimbra, which is where we were headed the next day, we asked for and took her wonderful suggestions for places and things to eat.

This was an incredibly filling food tour and a great value. With five stops, we had many must-tries including vinho verde, caldo verde, and a mini version of francesinha, which I consider the Portuguese version of loco moco--gluttonous and probably perfect for a long night out drinking, which wasn’t what we were up to, so the smaller portion was great.

I really enjoyed seeing the various neighborhoods and stopping to talk about a few landmarks, so it was really a city tour as well as a food tour. And you need to walk a bit with all the food and drink! Our penultimate stop (the last one was dessert) was really a full meal and it was so nice to eat outdoors on a busy street as it was just coming to life for the night. This was a fantastic 50th food tour for me and I would definitely do another Eating Europe tour in the future.

We had a great time with our guide touring some areas and tasting great foods. It was really nice sampling authentic foods from the areas and hearing a little about the history of Porto.
