We will start the visit to the city of Coimbra through the University, we will visit the Paço das Escolas, the Joanina Library, São Miguel Chapel and the Royal Palace).

Our guide, Pedro, was a phd student at University of Coimbra. He was very knowledgeable of the history of the university as well as the city. He could answer most questions we had with ease. He was funny and engaging with our group.

Cannot recommend this tour highly enough. The University of Coimbra and in fact the whole city is an absolute gem. We had the most amazing guide in Renan. He is a graduate of the University and just about to embark on his PHD. He has a wealth of experience of not just the university but the city and indeed the history of Portugal and his enthusiasm shines through. He certainly brought the University to life for us, no trip to Coimbra would be complete without a morning there. Such an interesting and likeable young man. If you have him as your guide you are in for a fascinating and hugely enjoyable time. We have been on various tours with Viator over the years and mostly had excellent and well informed guides but Renan has to take top spot.
We were sad to say goodbye but he left us with suggestions of other places to visit that were not included in the tour. Thank you
