From Porto to Lisbon: get to know the most beautiful Portuguese cities.

You will be able to choose two or three cities from a list of eight: Aveiro, Coimbra, Fátima, Tomar, Alcobaça, Batalha, Nazaré and Peniche.

If you choose Aveiro, you will see the region's famous canals.

If you prefer to stop in Coimbra, don't miss the University, one of the oldest and most prestigious in Europe.

Visiting Fatima will undoubtedly be an unforgettable experience.
Known as the “Altar of the World”.

The Old Bridge is one of the most beautiful sights in the city of Tomar.

If you prefer a little more history, then visit Alcobaça, with its imposing monastery and the tombs of Pedro and Inês de Castro.

Near these cities is Nazaré, a land of surfers and giant waves. If you want to breathe the sea air, this is the perfect city!

Last but not least, we have Peniche. It is one of the largest traditional fishing ports in the country, famous for its bilros lace.

What To Expect

Porto
Porto was voted Europe's Best City Break Destination in 2020, and the best European destination in 2017 for the third time in a row.

Since 1996, its historic centre has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also a city known worldwide for its wine and port wine cellars, its centuries-old bridges, its gastronomy, and the magnificent Douro River. The famous gastronomic specialties of the region are: Francesinha, Tripas à Moda do Porto and Bacalhau à Gomes de Sá.

The city of Porto also has several cultural spaces of reference such as the Serralves Museum, the House of Music, and the inescapable Lello Bookstore.

In 2001 it was European capital of culture and in 2012 elected as Best European Destination by the European Consumer Association.

Aveiro
If you choose Aveiro, you will see the region's famous canals.

Known as “the Venice of Portugal”, it was a fishing village which feels more like a balcony with a privileged view of the Atlantic Ocean.

The colorful boats – known as “moliceiros” – will invite you to embark on a journey through the city's historical heritage.

University of Coimbra
If you prefer to stop in Coimbra, don't miss the University, one of the oldest and most prestigious in Europe, known for its Baroque library, the Joanina.

Convento de Cristo
The Old Bridge is one of the most beautiful sights in the city of Tomar.

After crossing it, head to the Pegões Aqueduct, just over 1.2 km from the Convent of Christ. This Philippine aqueduct is about 6 km long and more than 500 years old, and was the main water supply to the Convent.

Batalha Monastery
The Dominican Monastery of Batalha, or Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória was built to commemorate the victory of the Portuguese over the Castilians in the Battle of Aljubarrota (1385) and is the third most visited monument in Portugal.
