Best Travel Guide

While trying to decide on the best way to see Portugal, my husband and I were intrigued by the idea of a private tour and Premium Tours popped up as a company with 1,000+ five star reviews. After some conversations with the company, we liked the idea of being able to choose exactly what we wanted to do and decided to create an itinerary with their guidance. Everything sounded good so we booked our trip expecting a positive experience. What we didn’t expect was being matched with the best tour guide ever! What a joy it was to be greeted by Filipa Rodrigues. who immediately impressed us with her organization, knowledge and especially her warm, helpful and engaging personality. Filipa made it clear that this was our trip and she would make any accommodations to the schedule to give us the best experience customized to us. And she made that happen every day. She escorted us through Sintra, Fatima, Tomar, Coimbra, Sierra do Estrela, The Doura Valley, Porto Aveiro,Nazare and Obidos, wrapping the trip up in Lisbon. Each day, Filipa greeted us completely prepared to give us the best experience that day. She always offered choices, made helpful suggestions and was constantly tuned in to our needs. She asked for our frequent feedback to make sure each day was the best day. She has extensive knowledge of Portuguese history, and conveys interesting information at every step of the way. We learned more about Portugal in one week than if we had taken a class. Filipa has great pride in her country and makes it obvious that she genuinely loves giving tours. There were also surprises along the way like a private sunset sailboat cruise, wine and cheese tasting and the best walking tour of Porto. At the end of our week, Filipa asked what our favorite activity was. I genuinely couldn’t give an answer since there were too many great ones to pick just one! We are grateful for this wonderful experience and will leave Portugal not only with countless wonderful memories but with a special friend who we’ve already made plans to keep in touch with.

I've been a regular visitor to Lisbon for some years now and I've been on several private sunset tours on the Tagus before.
Seeing Lisbon by boat, especially at sunset, gives you an excellent perspective of the city, its geography and its history.
The route on most sunset tours take tends to be roughly the same.
Starting from near the Ponte 25 de Abril, then heading upriver to Praça do Comércio and then towards Torre de Belém for sunset, passing under the bridge just before sunset.
Our Captain José took us on his vessel the Spritz. It was probably the nicest of the sailboats I've been on in Lisbon. It was very clean, comfortable, had several excellent areas to get comfortable and view Lisbon while enjoying a glass or two of wine and some charcuterie. We particularly liked the two elevated stern benches. They really give you an excellent location to take pictures from. They were a first for me.
José was great with communication before and during the trip. He was very gracious, knowledgable and kind. We learned a lot about the city during our two hours with him.
I highly recommend taking a trip with Portugal Premium Tours. Even if it's a bit of a splurge, it's well worth it!
We will be back!
