Historical records point to the existence of a fort at Cabo da Roca in the 19th century. Stop to get to know Cascais, a village located by the sea and traditionally a fishing village, had an important development in the 19th century. XIV.
But it was in the century. In the 19th century, when bathing in the sea began to be appreciated, Cascais underwent an impulse that transformed it into a summer resort for the aristocracy and the Portuguese royal family.
Take the opportunity to take a stroll through the streets that have excellent quality shops or a few moments of rest on one of the many esplanades that exist here. The beaches are still one of the biggest attractions, so if the weather permits, don't forget your bathing suit and take a dip in one of Cascais' many beaches.

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE WITH GONCALO !!!
Terry R, 24-09-2022
The locations themselves were wonderful but Goncalo our guide made them extraordinary! He was so passionate and knowledgable as he immersed us in Portuguese history and daily life in Portugal. The tour also included the entrance tickets to Pena Palace in Sintra which allowed us to skip hours of waiting in line. Some other tours did not. His English was perfect and he was so entertaining. We took other tours in Lisbon but this was by far the best !!!
Best guide ever
WoW what a great tour and guide. Goncalo is so passionate about the history of Portugal and his knowledge of the Peña Palace, Sinatra Cascais made the tour magical. He ensured we were well taken care of, no long waiting period at the palace was wonderful. We were a small group so it was like we were all family, Goncalo chose a fantastic little restaurant in the village the food and atmosphere were wonderful and the price was very very reasonable. I have taken numerous guided tours but with Goncalo it was a step above all others. Myself and our small group all said this was the best.
Fantastic trip with a great guide
Goncalo was a fantastic guide and host, he was very informative and engaging and he did a great job of letting us know when and where to be to make things go smoothly.
Highly recommended and well-organized tour!
Great tour! The itinerary is really the best and includes all the must-see places nearby Lisbon. The tour guide Goncalo was very informative and deserves a special shout-out too. The van was comfortable and the fact that there were only 6 of us on the tour made this like a private tour experience.
In case anyone finds this useful -- we visited Quinta da Regaleira during free time but keep in mind that there's a huge queue for the Initiation Well and it's not possible to visit it in 1,5 hours. But the rest of the monument is very impressive too. It's still worth visiting Quinta da Regaleira if that's what you plan to do during your free time.
Goncalos did a great job telling us about the history and details of the sites. He knew the tricks of the trade, when to arrive at different places etc.
