Be taught in a fun, safe, and encouraging way, to catch your first waves with the support and tips you need to become a better surfer.
"My name is João, I'm a local surfer from Porto with 30 years experience surfing. I'm a traveled surfer, former international competitor, currently running "Surf Coaching Porto". I'm a Certified Surf Coach, by the Portuguese Surfing Federation, teaching since 1998, and I WILL BE YOUR COACH, NO ONE ELSE!
Been training local surfers and teaching foreigners how to start and improve their surf skills. Also I'm a Surf Guide partnering with the World Surf League, providing training camps (surfcamps) in Porto and organize surftrips worldwide.
Besides that, I surf every day ;)”

I only did riversurfing before and wasn't sure if I could catch a wave - after a short introduction and help from the guide, it did work out pretty well!
With the good hints of Joao I could improve further and further in this short time!

First and foremost João and no other will be your coach. This gave me so much peace of mind when booking, not having to wonder who will end up being my coach, as opposed to when booking with a big surf school.
João has an incredible amount of experience surfing professionally as well as teaching and it shows!
The adjustments he offered for my pop up technique and surf stance have been a game changer!!
The equipment I received from João has also been the best of my entire trip - brand new, top quality boards and perfectly fitted, pristine wetsuits…it really makes a difference and everything is handled with so much care it‘s great to see :)
Even after my departure from Porto João was incredibly kind to help me find surf spots around the country, checking surf cams for me and sharing advice which should give you an idea of the kind of person he is!
I wholeheartedly recommend and hope to be back soon!
