Homenagem as vitimas da Inquisicao em Portugal
The institution of the Inquisition in Portugal dates from 1536 and lasted for almost 300 years in Portugal. It was largely responsible for the decline of the first global empire in the world that Portugal had maintained during the 15th and 16th centuries. The Inquisition was responsible for the death of many innocent victims and the greatest symbol of intolerance and religious extremism in the history of Portugal. It was in Praça do Giraldo that most of the victims were burned alive in the horrible acts of faith. The court of the inquisition of Évora was the deadliest of the 4 courts that existed in Portugal of this tenebrous institution.

We particularly enjoyed the informative tour of the Cathedral. Absolutely fascinating. We could have walked through ourselves, but would have been clueless about the intricate details of the place. Paulo answered all of our questions with an invariably interesting aspect making the tour more enjoyable as a consequence.

Very knowledgeable and articulate English tour. Took us to the Roman Bath which we could not find on our own because the entrance is not marked. Personalized our tour so as not to duplicate things we had already seen.
Well worth the cost!

Our guide Jones was great. Full of historical information which gave use a deep understanding of the long history of Evora.
His slow pace and sense of love for his town made for an excellent tour of all the highlights we wanted to explore.
He’s one of the best guides we’ve experienced in all of our travels
